"We’ve been the best national team in the last 6 years"

The 2026 World Cup South American qualifier between Argentina and Brazil left no one indifferent. Despite expectations of a hard-fought match, the 'Albiceleste' dominated Brazil, imposed their style of play and claimed a convincing 4-1 victory.

The match had already been heated up beforehand by Brazilian star Raphinha, who talking to Romario said they were going to “give” Scaloni's team "a beating", something Rodrigo de Paul recalled after the match, stressing Argentina's superiority over the last six years. 

"We have never disrespected anyone beforehand. Over all these years, we have been disrespected quite a lot. No one helped us. We achieved everything on our own. And we keep proving it," he said.
