Spurs' Bergvall set to miss remainder of season with ankle injury: Postecoglou

Lucas Bergvall missed out on Spurs' matchday squad for the first time this term after an ankle injury sustained in training ruled him out of the 2-0 victory against Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou said that the 19-year-old is expected to remain sidelined for the rest of the season due to the blow. “Lucas looks like the injury is significant enough to probably keep him out for the rest of the season," the Australian told reporters on Friday.
"He just tweaked the ligaments in his ankle, so he’s out. Something you see all the time. It wasn’t a tackle, he was on his own. He just went to turn, and his ankle gave way", he added while speaking ahead of Sunday's trip to West Ham United in the Premier League.
Bergvall recently signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur to increase his stay at the north London club until 2031 - doing so less than a year after rejecting a move to Barcelona to join the English side from Djurgarden last summer.
Postecoglou also provided updates on Solanke and Maddison after the duo were forced off early with injuries in the second half. "Dom is not too bad, still sore from last night, but we don’t think it’s anything too serious," the manager said.
"Obviously a doubt for the weekend, but we’re hoping it will settle down pretty quickly. Madders is a bit more of a concern because it’s the knee. We’ve sent him for a scan and are just waiting to hear the outcome."
Son Heung-min has missed Spurs' last five outings with a foot injury, but Postecoglou reassured that the skipper was making good progress in his recovery. On a potential comeback in next week’s Europa League second leg in Norway, the 59-year-old said:
"Sonny’s working hard. He’s progressing, still doing the individual, but he’s out on the grass. Feels better every day. So we’ll see how he’s going by Thursday and whether he’s available for Thursday."
