Cancelo jinks left and right, managing to evade a couple of defenders but seeing his rasping shot blocked by Frankie Kent. From the follow-up, Phil Foden drills a well-struck drive which is pushed away by a sprawling Steven Benda.

But City have to stay wary at the back, Jack Marriott has just been introduced and almost scores with his first touch but a thunderous drive is pushed out by Ederson.

GOAL for Man City! What a ball from Phil Foden, from the halfway line he finds the run of Jack Grealish, who takes it down with a stunning touch with the ball dropping over his shoulder. Then it's easy work, clipping a sublime finish over the advancing Steven Benda to double City's lead and net his first ever FA Cup goal.

A subdued celebration from Pep Guardiola on the touchline, Peterborough backline is finally breached.

City need to wake up at the start of this second half, with Peterborough getting closer and closer to the goal. Jesus and Grealish look like players that haven’t played in a few weeks, and it may be time soon for the likes of Bernardo and De Bruyne to come on and offer more of a goal threat.

Posh work a long-throw routine which sees the ball land perfectly for Szmodics but he scuffs it wide. A moment later there is another one as the ball is pulled back into a dangerous area for Grant but Foden does really well to cut it out. Worrying start.

Ake wins a header but then lands square on his back. He needs a moment but is now back up on his feet. It didn't look fun.

The longer Peterborough hold out, the more confidence will swell in the team and around the ground. City haven’t played badly but the home side will definitely be the happier if it stays like this until half-time.

Gundogan picks the ball up inside the box and attempts to bend a shot in at the far post but it's just wide. Now City attack again with a sweeping move, Grealish drives inside but his shot is blocked.

City are seeing plenty of the ball and are working their way into the box but simply haven’t tested the home goalkeeper enough, Grealish in particular looks like he just needs to be greedier rather than always trying to find a teammate. Peterborough haven’t had as much of the ball but have actually tested Ederson more.

City are finding it difficult to create chances against a well organised Peterborough side and are yet to work goalkeeper Steven Benda into a save.

City showed at Everton how patient they can be and they are having to wait for their opportunities again tonight, with Peterborough threatening on the counter - Dias and Ake are not the paciest and with Cancelo and Zinchenko pushing forward there is plenty of space in behind them. Guardiola knows how his players can pick the right moment to strike though so won’t be too worried at this stage

Big Ederson save! A ball over the top sets Fuchs away and he gets a shot off from a tight angle which Ederson does well to get down low and palm wide. He then catches the resulting corner.

Cancelo gets to the by-line and on three separate occasions, he dummies his marker before clipping in a cross. City keep the ball and restart the move, knocking the ball around nicely before Zinchenko fires over again.

The home fans gave Oleksandr Zinchenko a nice reception but loudly cheer when the left-back steps forward and strikes Jack Grealish's pass way wide of the goal.

And nearly the opening goal in the first two minutes as Peterborough goalkeeper Steven Benda is slow with the ball at his feet. He takes too long to punt it upfield and Jack Grealish closes in with a block, but thankfully for the hosts it lands wide of the post.
