Giroud volleyed home to seal the win for France

The Chelsea man came in for significant criticism for not scoring at the World Cup, despite his side going on to win the trophy.

However, the strapping striker had the last laugh at the Stade de France on Sunday as he finished off the Dutch to leave France sitting pretty at the top of their Nations League group.

Ryan Babel's equaliser against the run of play appeared to have scuppered France's hopes of claiming all three points despite Kylian Mbappe's early opener, but Giroud was on hand to settle the game late on.

Substitute Benjamin Mendy was given far too much space to cross down the left and he picked out the target man, who did brilliantly to steer a volley into the far corner first time with his left foot despite the close attentions of Virgil van Dijk.

The relief was clear on Grioud's face as he wheeled away in celebration, joined by his equally gleeful team-mates.
