Barcelona face stiff competitors for Zubimendi

Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi is one of Xavi's main targets for next season. Since Sergio Busquets left the club in the summer of 2023, the 'Cule' midfield has not had an equivalent player, as Oriol Romeu has not worked out and players like De Jong or Gundogan are not exactly pure defensive midfielders. 

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Zubimendi's agent had a meeting with Deco a few days ago, but no progress was made. He even claims that other operations were discussed, so it can almost be ruled out that the 'Txuri-urdin' will wear blue and red next season.

In addition, the 'Cule' club was informed that there were other European giants interested in Zubimendi. Arsenal and Juventus are currently bidding for the Basque player's transfer. 

On the other hand, the economic situation of the Catalan team has led the 'Cules' to opt for another player with a more affordable price, Guido Rodriguez. That is why the danger of Real Sociedad losing one of their key players lies abroad.

Real Sociedad are not willing to let one of their franchise players go so easily. The 'Txuri-urdin' team is sticking to the 60 million euros termination clause in his contract and is not considering negotiating.

Martin Zubimendi is having a good season in which he has played in the Champions League with the club from San Sebastian. The Basque midfielder has participated in 45 matches, in which he has scored 4 goals and provided one assist.
