Atletico's Correa handed five-match ban for foul language towards referee

Atletico Madrid have been handed a double blow following their visit to the Coliseum on Sunday. Not only were they defeated 2-1 by Getafe to lose ground on the title race, but they have also been deprived of Angel Correa's services for five matches.
The Argentine forward was sent-off late against Getafe for a high tackle on Djene. referee Cuadra Fernandez has initially opted for a yellow card, but turned it into a red after reviewing the challenge at the VAR monitor.
Correa, unhappy with the official's decision in an already frustrating clash for 'Los Colchoneros', was caught insulting Cuadra Fernandez, calling him a "son of a b****, piece of s***, mother-f*****".
The 30-year-old apologised for his conduct, admitting that his reaction was due to the delicate situation of the game. But his plea for forgiveness was not enough to save him from being sanctioned as the Discipline Committee denied Atletico's appeal to reduce the ban.
Correa will be ruled out for the upcoming La Liga clash against Barcelona, vital for the title, and will also be absent when the Catalans visit the Metropolitano next month to play the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final. Espanyol, Sevilla and Real Valladolid are other games he will miss out on.
