Zenit's only Ukranian player leaves the club

Russia's invasion of neighbours Ukraine began almost a week ago and the sporting world has felt its impact. Yaroslav Rakitsky has had enough and has left the Russian League.
"Due to a difficult family situation , the player asked for his contract to be terminated", wrote his club Zenit in an offcial statement published on social media this Wednesday.
Rakitsky joined Zenit in January 2019, played in 108 matches, scored seven goals and made ten assists. During his time at the Russian club, he won the league three times, the cup once and the Russian Supercup twice.
"Zenit and its fans thank Rakitsky for the time he spent in Saint Petersburg, for his professionalism and passion for the game. We sincerely wish all the best to Yaroslav, his friends and his family", finished the message.
