Zaniolo's agent reveals failed move to Barcelona

He has not been talked about in recent months, but Nicolo Zaniolo was an important player in the first part of the season under Jose Mourinho. Despite this, Roma's Italian winger left through the back door for Galatasaray.

Having up and downs with his new team, the former Roma player was very close to being able to display all his football in La Liga. Speaking to 'Relevo', Claudio Vigorelli, Zaniolo's agent, revealed the team and the reason that could have signed his player.

"Unfortunately, there have been situations that have hampered his development. In January, in Spain, it was not easy to land him. The situation was not really established. In La Liga, the market was a bit blocked by a question of salaries. He was on Barcelona's shortlist, I confirm that. They appreciated him but unfortunately it was not possible to proceed due to financial reasons," he said.

Vigorelli also said that his client was not having a good time. "He needed to change air. He suffered two major injuries in recent years, but when he went down he always bounced back. He needed to find different motivation in a new place. In January, there were other opportunities in Italy and the Premier League, but the call from Galatasaray was immediately accepted with great enthusiasm," he concluded.
