West Ham's Kudus could face extended ban after Spurs incident

Mohammed Kudus was sent off late for West Ham in Saturday's defeat to Tottenham. The striker kicked Micky van de Ven before hitting the defender in the head, leading to a brawl between the two sides. In the midst of the players arguing, he followed up by pushing Pape Matar Sarr in the head.  

After scoring the opening goal of the match at the 18th minute, Kudus was shown a straight red card at the 86th minute, as Tottenham had already turned the game around with four goals before the hour mark. VAR intervened as referee Madley had initially spared the Ghanian with a yellow card. 

The 24-year-old will now be suspended for the Hammers' next fixture against Manchester United next weekend, but three violent incidents in quick succession could push the FA to punish him further. A final decision will be announced in the coming days, but for now, Kudus will only miss Red Devils clash. 

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui spoke on the number 14's misconduct post-match, though he claimed that he did not see the altercations. “It's not good for him, it's not good for the club, for the team,” the Spaniard said. “But I can't say anything more because I didn't see the action".
