Welbeck put Arsenal ahead late on

The England striker, who had previously had a headed goal disallowed for a foul put his team ahead with a composed finish in the 77th minute.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang flicked on a ball towards the forward, which was poorly missed by former Liverpool centre-back Coates and he raced through on goal.

Often criticised for his finishing, Welbeck made no mistake this time, striking the ball low and hard through Renan Ribeiro's legs, in a cruel twist of fate for the goalkeeper who had been outstanding all game. 

The North London team looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Jose Alvalde, but Welbeck's late intervention put them in a great position to win.
