In their last match, La Roja cruised to a comfortable 0-5 victory against Slovakia. Dubravka got the rout underway with a comical own goal after half an hour, before Laporte scored his first Spain goal right before half time. Sarabia and Ferran Torres scored in the second half, either side of the hour mark, before Kucka scored Slovakia's second own-goal of the match to complete the thrashing.

Spain's last 16 opponents will be Croatia, after they finished second in group D, behind England but ahead of Czech Republic on goal difference.
