VIDEO: Elche's unbelievable open goal miss v Real Madrid

Elche hosted Real Madrid in a Copa del Rey last 16 clash on Thursday. 

The first 90 minutes of the contest saw no goals scored so it went to extra-time. However, Elche should have scored in the 10th minute of the match when Josan squared for Guido Carrillo, but he hit the crossbar from two yards out despite having an open net. In extra time, Gonzalo Verdu put Elche ahead, moments after Marcelo saw red for Real Madrid, but Isco and Eden Hazard scored to give Real Madrid victory. Real Madrid travel to Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals. The match will take place on 3rd February despite Real Madrid asking to postpone the game as they will be missing players due to the international break.
