La Roja's route to the quarter-finals has certainly been a contrasting one. After just one goal in two games saw them pick up draws against Sweden and Poland, they then put five past Slovakia on the final group game to come second in group E. A thrilling 5-3 victory over Croatia in the last 16 after extra-time secured their place in the last eight, despite throwing away a 3-1 advantage with just five minutes to go.

Their next fixture will be against a Switzerland side with a similarly remarkable story. They knocked out France 5-4 on penalties, after they clawed themselves back into the game from 3-1 late on in regular time.
