Varane asked Phil Jones for the number 4 shirt... but he refused!

Varane was presented on Saturday in front of a full capacity Old Trafford, receiving a standing ovation when he appeared in a suit holding the shirt he will wear for next season.
The Frenchman and World Cup winner will have to wear the number 19, something which he tried to change but was unable to. According to 'Manchester Evening News', the ex-Real Madrid man went to speak respectfully to Phil Jones, the shirt's current owner.
But Jones refused to give the number 4 to his new teammate, despite being on the fringes of Solskjaer's squad. Despite an impressive ten-year career as a Red Devil, the ex-England international only played eight matches all campaign, totalling less than 600 minutes on the pitch.
As a result, Varane will be, for once, without his usual number 4. He will feature next season with the number 19 on his back, until Phil Jones either changes his mind or leaves the club.
