Valencia will make a bid for Mertens

This Thursday, Gennaro Gattuso was officially presented as Valencia's new coach, replacing Jose Bordalas, who was sacked in the last few days. The Italian has already got down to work and started to work on building the squad. In the last few hours he made a special request.
According to the newspaper 'Super Deporte', the former Milan player has suggested to the board to make a financial effort to sign Dries Mertens, who is finishing his contract with Napoli and will not continue at the Italian club.
The 35-year-old Belgian striker will have to find a new team for next season and, on this occasion, Valencia appears to be a new opportunity in his career. We will have to see what happens in the next few days, as both parties will begin talks.
In addition to Mertens, Gattuso has also reportedly asked for the signings of Matias Vecino (Inter), Tiemoue Bakayoko (Milan) and Matteo Politano (Napoli). He knows all of them well from Serie A and would like to have them in the 'Che' squad.
