United hold Chelsea at half-time as Maguire sees goal ruled out

Chelsea are in search of three crucial points against Manchester United as they look to boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League via a top-five finish, with just two games to go in the Premier League.
But their task has been made harder due to a shortage of strikers in attack, which forced Enzo Maresca to place start 19-year-old George alongside Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke on the flanks.
And their lack of attacking gunpowder was visible in the opening minutes, as they struggled to pose any threat. Their lacklustre start gave Man United, who started out strongly, the opportunity to break the deadlock in the 16th minute.
Harry Maguire slotted home from a Luke Shaw cross from the left flank to give the Red Devils the lead. However, Chelsea were graced by VAR, with the goal disallowed after the Englishman had strayed offside.
Being inches away from going behind served as a wake-up call for the Blues, who settled into the game. Reece James went closest to goal, but his stunning volley from the edge of the box was denied by the woodwork.
Madueke, Palmer and Fernandez also had chances to strike in the first half, but they were not enough to give Chelsea the lead. The hosts will be hoping to carry on their promising display in the second period.
