Two 'forgotten men', the only champions in the final

There are only two players between Liverpool and Tottenham who have experienced the satisfaction of lifting the famous coveted trophy into the sky: Shaqiri and Sturridge. The first was for Bayern in 2013, against Borussia Dortmund of Klopp. The English striker, for his part, won that historic and unexpected Champions League for Chelsea in 2012.

It so happens that neither Shaqiri nor, above all, Sturridge have any special importance in Jürgen Klopp's plans. With the formidable trio of Mo Salah, Firmino and Mané in front, although the Swiss winger was in the starting line-up against Barcelona due to the absences of the Egyptian and Brazilian.

Both were summoned, but their minutes of play in recent months are, at least, reduced. In fact, Sturridge did play briefly against Barcelona, but this was just to waste time at the end of the game.

Neither Shaqiri nor Sturridge played in either of the two finals mentioned above, although they are the only ones who can boast a Champions League trophy.  In Tottenham there is one player who played in a Champions League final, Alderweireld, but fell defeated in Lisbon against Real Madrid.
