Tottenham eye loan move for Bayern's Palhinha

The north London club are understood to prefer a loan arrangement rather than a permanent transfer. Palhinha, 30, joined Bayern last summer after a proposed move collapsed in dramatic fashion the previous year.

However, the Portuguese international has struggled to make an impact in Germany and does not appear to be in Vincent Kompany's plans for the new campaign.

The defensive midfielder previously impressed in the Premier League during his spell at Fulham, and a return to England now seems increasingly likely. Spurs are believed to be monitoring his situation closely as they continue to assess their midfield options.

While Bayern would ideally like to recoup a fee, Tottenham are open to negotiating a temporary deal. Talks are still at an early stage, but the interest signals the club's intent to reinforce key areas ahead of a demanding season.
