Torino president Cairo dismisses Red Bull interest

Intial reports from Italian outlet 'La Stampa' on Monday claimed that Red Bull were showing interest in acquiring Serie A side Torino since September, when Torino announced Red Bull as their official energy drink partner. 

Talks were said to be already in motion between the energy drink brand and Torino president Urbano Cairo, as 'La Stampa' indicated that Cairo was first looking to make Red Bull the main sponsor of Torino from next season onwards, before assessing the possiblity of selling the club. 

However, such speculations have been dismissed by Cairo on Tuesday. "What was said on the article [from 'La Stampa'] is false. Cairo never met up with anyone from Red Bull to discuss the option of selling Torino," Cairo told the Italian outlet. "Spreading false information do nothing but damage our club."

Despite Cairo's words, 'La Stampa' insist that Red Bull is looking for a club in Serie A. After having ownership of clubs in Germany, Austria, USA, Japan and Brazil, CEO Mark Mateschitz is reportedly studying Italian football as a possiblity for the energy drink company to expand itself.
