The transfer market has broken up three of La Liga's top five strike partnerships

The first signings in the transfer market have separated three of the five best strike partnerships in La Liga. The departure of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid would leave Leo Messi and Luis Suarez as the only remaining duo.

Scoring goals is the most valued thing in football and that is the case of most of the major transfers in the market. A month and a half until the end of transfer window, La Liga has lost three of the five best strike partnerships last season.

Real Sociedad were the first team to break a partnership by signing Portu from a Girona team which will play in Segunda this year after being relegated. The midfielder scored nine goals while Stuani netted 19 times last term.

Days afterwards, PSG were the beneficiaries of one of the bargains of the summer so far: Pablo Sarabaia, with an excessively cheap buyout clause, signed for the Parisians after scoring on 12 occasions in the 2018-19 campaign. He is no longer with Ben Yedder who scored 18 times.

Last Sunday, Valencia announced the signing of Maxi Gomez. The Uruguayan left Balaidos and Celta Vigo lost 13 goals as a result. He and Iago Aspas, who found the back of the net 20 times, were largely responsible for keeping the side from North-West Spain in La Liga.

Despite Bale's desire to continue, Real Madrid are trying to cash in on the Welshman who even with just eight goals from last season, was Karim Benzema's best strike partner. The Frenchman ended with the season with 21 goals to his tally. A duo which remain intact despite lots of speculation.

If Gareth Bale leaves, Leo Messi and Luis Suarez would be the only partnership to stay out of La Liga's top five last season. The Argentian and the Uruguayan were the league's most lethal strike force last season with 36 goals for Messi and 21 for Suarez.
