The referee waved away Chelsea's appeals for a penalty

Messi gave Barcelona an early lead before assisting Dembele for a second soon after, leaving Chelsea with everything to do in order to progress into the quarter-finals.

The referee waved away the Chelsea appeals and Giroud was booked for his part in asking for the penalty. In fairness to the referee, the replays showed Alonso to have gone down rather easily.
