Ten Hag wants to renew De Gea despite Man Utd fans' annoyance

The Spaniard made a huge goalkeeping howler as Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat at West Ham on Sunday that threatens to send their season into a tailspin.
The result hinged on a catastrophic first-half error by De Gea, who let a tame shot from Said Benrahma squirm past him in the 27th minute after his team had largely dominated the opening period.
As a result, according to the 'Daily Mail', Manchester United fans are getting tired of David De Gea's mistakes costing them points in the English league. However, Erik ten Hag still has faith in the 32-year-old's skills and defended him at the post-match press conference.
"We want him to stay and we want him to extend his contract. He has the most clean sheets in the Premier League. We would not be here in this position without him," he began.
"I believe there are no concerns. It happens. As a team, you have to deal with it, show character, be resilient, bounce back and that's what this team will do. We started well, we dictated the game, we created chances, and then one mistake," the Dutchman said.
De Gea has conceded 57 goals in 53 competitive matches this season but his mistakes are weighing more and more heavily on the fans and he will have to show his best performances for them to change their minds.
