The Reds and the Toffees share the points. Alisson and Pickford were the men of the match. Both players made incredible saves to prevent either team from scoring. Liverpool hit the post three times but failed to score the goal that would give them the three points.
The first half was hard fought. Both teams fought for possession of the ball. Liverpool had control of the game but failed to create scoring chances as did the Toffees.
However, the Reds came close to taking the lead before half-time after the ball hit the crossbar twice in the 42nd minute. Darwin Nunez controlled the ball inside the box with his chest and unleashed an incredible volley but the ball hit the crossbar. The rebound fell to Luis Diaz, who smashed the ball to the long post but his shot also hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Firmino replaced Carvalho. Thanks to this substitution Klopp's team improved a lot and Liverpool's attack was non-stop. Despite this, incredible saves from Pickford denied Liverpool the first goal of the game.
Everton managed to push the ball into the net in the 68th minute. Gray crossed the ball from the right flank and Maupay, inside the box, controlled with his chest and squared it to the far post. Coady, who was there, pushed the ball into the net. However, the goal was disallowed for offside by the VAR.
