Spurs boss Postecoglou considering offloading Werner

According to the latest reports from 'Give me Sport', Timo Werner is approaching the end of his journey at Tottenham. The Germany international has not impressed at the north London club ever since his arrival in the 2023/2024 campaign and is now set to return to his parent club RB Leipzig upon the expiry of his loan deal in the summer.

The decision has reportedly come down to Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who has set his sights on signing a new player up front instead of triggering the £8.5million buy-out clause to keep the Leipzig loanee. Werner still has time until the end of the season to change the Australian manager's mind and salvage his career in England. 

That said, the 28-year old is facing stiff competition, hindering his chances to become a regular in the squad's starting XI. Teenage sensation Mikey Moore has been gaining Postecoglou's trust, as he was handed his first Premier League start of his career in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. 

In his first season at the club he only managed to contribute to five goals in 14 appearances. His output has been even more underwhealming in the 2024/2025 campaign, as he only counts one assist from 11 games played at Spurs. Should his number not improve drastically, Werner will likely see himself back at Leipzig at the end of the season.
