'Sleepy' Bayern's dropped points annoy Neuer

Joshua Kimmich's first-half header at Munich's Allianz Arena was cancelled out by Anthony Modeste's volley as Cologne broke the Bavarian giants' 100 percent record in the league.

Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern remain three clear at the top of the table with 16 points from their six games so far, but Neuer admitted the home draw was hard to take following their 1-0 defeat in Madrid on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Defeat to Atletico was Bayern's first of the season under new boss Ancelotti, but the lack of urgency and composure against Cologne was a cause for concern, admitted Neuer.

"It's clearly down to us, you could see how little tempo we had in our game and we were a bit sleepy," said the Germany goalkeeper.

"Of course, you have to play at a fast speed against a good team and be able to vary the tempo, which is what we didn't have today.

"You can't susprise a team like Cologne by playing like that.

"We lost to Atletico this week and taken a point against Cologne, I'll need at least a night to get my good mood back again."

Bayern centre-back Mats Hummels said the draw was a warning sign.

"I noticed that we were explicitly lacking depth in our patterns of running, we still have plenty of room for improvement, but we have been saying that for weeks," said Hummels.

"The draw is a bit annoying, but we have 16 points from six games and we're first."

Ancelotti made seven changes to the side which lost 1-0 at Atletico.

Only Neuer, Javi Martinez, Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski kept their starting places and Cologne could easily have claimed a rare win in Munich.

Simon Zoller sprinted clear of the defence and his shot beat Neuer, but rolled agonisingly past the post two minutes into injury time.

Dutch winger Arjen Robben made his first start of the season after injury, but lasted only 45 minutes before going off with bruised ribs.

Ancelotti missed out on equalling the Bundesliga record of six straight wins for a coach in his debut season in Germany's top flight and admitted his side has not played well in their last two games.

"We were good in the first half and controlled the game, then we lost the cohesion and order in our game," said Ancelotti.

"We haven't played well in the last two matches, but it continues after the international break."

Bayern are at Eintracht Frankfurt in their next Bundesliga game on October 15 before hosting PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League four days later.
