"Shooting from long range? It's something the coaches ask me to do"

Fermin Lopez, scorer of two goals with long-range strikes, one left-footed and one right-footed, in Spain's 3-0 win over Japan in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games, admitted that shooting from distance is something he is "asked to do by the coaches" because he has a "good shot".

"Shooting from distance? It's something the coaches ask me to do. I have a good shot from outside the box and I try to practise it. This time it worked out well and we got the win," he said in the mixed zone.

"I'm happy for the team's victory above all and also happy to help the team. Now we have to focus on Morocco," he said.

Fermin Lopez who, despite considering that they took "a step forward on the pitch" in the match against Japan, assured that they do not see themselves as favourites for gold. "We don't consider ourselves favourites, but we believe in ourselves and the work we do. Now, we have a great opponent coming up like Morocco. We hope to be at a high level and get the win," he concluded.
