Sevilla condemn attacks on club staff by supporters

In an official statement released on Monday, the club denounced what it described as "vandalic acts" and "unjustifiable physical and verbal attacks" directed at "several of its employees" in the aftermath of the 2-1 home loss.
The incidents occurred after the final whistle, when Ignacio Navarro, an advisor to the club presidency, and club lawyer Alberto Perez Solano were targeted by a group of radical fans. Both men required protection from club security personnel and members of the police force.
Tensions had already been running high prior to the match, coming on the back of a 2-1 defeat to city rivals Real Betis. That match had seen a protest by supporters before kick-off and a three-minute stoppage between the 58th and 61st minutes after paper balls were thrown towards Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak's penalty area.
In response to the incidents, Sevilla stated: "The club condemns the unjustifiable physical and verbal assaults suffered by several of its staff members, as well as the acts of vandalism that occurred following the match against Atletico Madrid."
"Sevilla FC will pursue and report any violent behaviour or incitement to hatred, which in no way reflects the values of our supporters," the statement concluded.
