The photo shows a gash on the top of the 24-year-old's foot, and extensive purple bruising towards the base of his toes.
Kutepov bravely played on through the pain, throughout the whole of normal time, as well as extra-time, before they were knocked out in a penalty shoot-out by Croatia.
The Russia team's official twitter shared a picture with the caption:
"The leg of Ilya Kutepov is an additional confirmation of the fact that the team did everything that they could and even more!"
"The injury was received in the first half, and there was still 100 minutes ahead..."
Russia were hoping to get through and play England in a historic semi-final, but it will now be Croatia who take on the Three Lions.
Dalic's Croatia side have had to win penalty shoot-outs to get through both of their knockout matches, while England beat Colombia on penalties, before beating Sweden 2-0.
