Romagnoli, Caldara doubts for Milan derby

Also without their international players, Gattuso's Milan side were also on the training field ahead of next Sunday's big game against Spalletti's Inter. 

On Saturday, the players who remained in Milan played a friendly game against the youth side with the seniors winning - perhaps unsurprisingly - by a score of 4-0 (goals from Abate, Bertolacci and Tsadjout and Capanni from the youth squad). 

However, neither Romagnoli nor Caldara were present for the match. The captain of the 'Rossoneri' is still recovering from a muscle injury which kept him out out of the game against Chievo, as well as forcing him to sit out this international break. As for Caldara, he is still fighting off the problems that have limited him to only one Europa League appearance this season. 

Both players are now targeting a return for the derby, and the talk is that the absence from yesterday's training ground exercise was a bid to ensure their fitness when Serie A returns.
