The Club World Cup has been a good showcase for Richard Rios. The Colombian, one of Palmeiras' key players, could leave the 'Verdao' shortly after their elimination and head to Europe. Specifically to Italy, where Roma are working on signing him.
The 'Gazzetta dello Sport' reports that contacts between the clubs intensified late on Tuesday and that Roma will make a first firm offer. This will be estimated at 30 million euros, including bonus. A step ahead of rivals such as Porto, Fiorentina and Atletico.
The tricky part, as is often the case with South American players, is his ownership. Even if Palmeiras accept the 30 million, it will be split 70% to the 'Verdao', 14% to Guarani, 6% to Flamengo and 10% to the player himself. So his current club would receive about 21 of this amount.
However, it seems that this is the base figure for which Palmeiras could consider letting the 25-year-old Colombian midfielder, who is in his third season at Palmeiras, leave. In that time he has worn the shirt 137 times, scoring 11 goals and providing ten assists.
Rios impressed at the Club World Cup, where he started all five of Palmeiras' matches. He also assisted Paulinho's extra-time winner in the Round of 16 win over Botafogo and set up Estevao for the equaliser against Chelsea.
