Rodrigo the hero as Spain seal Euro 2020 spot

Spain looked dead and buried but their never die attitude saw them claim a point in a game that the hosts will be kicking themselves for not being able to hold on.

Robert Moreno continued to rotate as he tries to find his best XI. He made 6 changes from the side that drew 1-1 away to Norway.

Spain started the brighter of the two with the best chance falling for Thiago in the 7th minute. The Bayern midfielder found himself inside the box with just the keeper to beat, but after trying to take it round the keeper, Olsen got a touch and the Spaniard dribbled it out.

The game changed just before half-hour mark when the hosts started to have a few chances of their own. Lustig had a drilled half volley saved by De Gea, with the attack ending when Quaison dragged his shot wide.

Spain's man of the match was arguably De Gea. He made a terrific save when Quaison got up like a fish out of water, only to see his header turned around the post by De Gea. Both teams went in reasonably happy at the break, with the score at 0-0.

Not long after the interval, Berg put the Swedes in front. De Gea made a fantastic double save, but couldn't do much as Berg headed in the 3rd attempt into the empty net from close range. De Gea then came off 10 minutes later with an injury. Manchester United will be hoping it's not so serious.

As time went on, it didn't seem to be Spain's night as they missed a series of chances. However, in the 92nd, just when you thought Sweden were going to record a famous win, Fabián's drilled cross across the face of goal was turned in by Rodrigo to send them to Euro 2020. Sweden, on the other hand, remain 2nd, 1 point above Romania, who they play in their next match.
