Rangers fan killed in Istanbul traffic accident

European football is in mourning. Rangers reported early Thursday that a fan of the Scottish team had died on Wednesday night in a traffic accident in Istanbul.
The fan had travelled to the Turkish capital to watch the match against Fenerbahce in the round of 16 of the Europa League, which takes place from 18.45 hours.
“We are devastated to learn of the death of one of our supporters in a road accident overnight in Istanbul. The thoughts of the entire club are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time,” Rangers said on social media.
For the time being, the match between the Turkish and Scottish sides remains on schedule. It is expected that a minute's silence will be held before the match in memory of the deceased fan.
