'Rams' prepared to win ugly, says Davies

Under the tutelage of novice manager Frank Lampard, Derby County are fast gaining a reputation for playing wonderful, free flowing football, with youngsters Mason Mount and Harry Wilson at the heart of it all.
However defender Curtis Davies has insisted that the team have multiple qualities to their game, including the ability to roll their sleeves up and battle, in order to attain precious victories in their push for promotion.
Chelsea loanee Mount has forced to sit out of the clash with Birmingham due to injury; and consequently, the 'Rams' looked a little off the pace, trailing at the interval to a Lukas Jutkiewicz goal.
Yet a second half fightback saw Lampard's side take a deserved three points to continue their promotion charge; goals from Bennett, Wilson and Marriott clinching the spoils for the hosts.

Experience head Davies spoke to the media after the turnaround, and insisted that the Derby squad have both substance and style, no matter what they ahve shown at the beginning of the campaign.
Davies said:"It was more of a bodies-on-the-line type performance when you come up against a side like Birmingham, rather than our fluid flowing football. It was chalk and cheese, our first-half and second-half performances. Second half we came out, we had a lot to do, we mixed it up and managed to get a goal and from there we had them rocking."
He continued: "The manager mentioned it beforehand that when we've come up against teams that are quite direct and physical we've let ourselves down. In the second half we put our game on to them and played a lot better."

Birmingham captain Micheal Morrison was disappointed at his side's defeat, as they lost their 11 game unbeaten streak, but he backed his team to respond quickly from the loss.
Morrison explained: " It's frustrating to lose that unbeaten record, but it's about starting a new one. We are looking now to prove to people we can bounce back from this defeat. It does show the team spirit we've got if you face adversity and a bad result and then go and win the next game."
