Newly-promoted Middlesbrough are in talks with Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, who could cost around £8m.

The 27-year-old defender is looking to leave Dortmund after only playing 11 games last season, in what was an injury-plagued campaign for the Serbia international.

Middlesbrough are prepared to pay around £8m for the defender's services as they look to complete their second high-profile signing of the week, having signed Victor Valdes on a free transfer.

Sunderland are also rumoured to be interested in Subotic, but Boro are favourites to sign the 27-year-old.
