Pogba's clash with Foyth leaves defender with bloody nose!

It was rotten luck. A series of unfortunate events ended up with Juan Foyth rejoining the field of play with a bandage round his head. And it wasn't for no reason - the blow from Pogba opened a large wound in his forehead and left him with a bloody nose.

It happened in the early stages of the match. Juan Foyth attempted to bring the ball out from the back, when he accidentally stepped on the ball.  The Argentine fell to the floor, disoriented, and was met by the knee of Paul Pogba. The blow from the Frenchman was violent, who quickly asked for the medics to enter the field.

The Villarreal man started to bleed. On the one hand this brought relief, as stamping on the ball could have caused serious damage to his ankle or knee. But instead, it was a blow to the head that he had suffered. Good, but bad at the same time.

This is because head injuries can be very dangerous, as well as deceiving. Juan Foyth continued to bleed from both his nose and the wound in his head. The Villarreal medics tried to plug up the wounds as soon as they entered the field. 

He left for the sidelines, where they wrapped up his head and plugged his nose. But this wasn't any old injury. The player didn't stop bleeding upon returning to the field of play, at least from his nose, and had to return to the sidelines to be treated again.

The referee watched him suspiciously, and within reason - you can't carry on playing if you keep on bleeding. But even so, the Argentine returned to the field for the third time - after all, it's not every day you play a Europa League final.
