Petr Cech steps down as Chelsea technical advisor

As of 30th June, Petr Cech will no longer be Chelsea's technical and performance adviser. It is a position he had been given because of the stature of his career at Stamford Bridge and was helping the club's development, but he decides to leave now that ownership has changed. The former goalkeeper was one of the most outspoken voices on the club's instability in the months leading up to Todd Boehly's takeover.
His departure is now official. The Blues confirmed it in a statement in which they specified that the retired goalkeeper has only three effective days left in the position. The reason for this is that the season officially ends on the 30th of this month. It is not yet known whether he will have a replacement.
"It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside. I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch", Cech said.
From his words, it is easy to conclude that the decision to leave was his own. The new owner he alluded to confirmed: "Petr is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to step aside and thank him for his contribution as an advisor and his commitment to the club and our community. We wish him all the best.
