Pablo Torre and Pau Victor want to be part of Flick's plans

Midfielder Pablo Torre said Tuesday that he hopes his goals in preseason will help convince his new coach, Hansi Flick, to stay with FC Barcelona. Torre has scored in both of Flick's games so far - Tuesday's friendly against Manchester City in Orlando, USA, which ended 2-2, and also in Barcelona's 1-0 win over UE Olot last week.

“Hopefully that will be the case,” replied the young Cantabrian midfielder, who, last year, played on loan at Girona, asked after the match against City if those goals could convince the German coach. “He hasn't said anything to me yet,” he acknowledged, although he explained that Flick is being very close to everyone and that the squad is happy.

In addition, he said he “felt very comfortable in midfield,” where the German coach has placed him in the starting eleven, “with freedom”, although he was critical of his game: “I could have done much better”.

His teammate Pau Victor, best player of the match, said that he “works every day to prove” that he can stay this season in the 'Cules' squad. “I work every day to prove that I can be here, I can and I trust in myself,” said the striker, top scorer of the Barcelona reserve team last season with 20 goals, in statements after the event held in Orlando (United States).

Victor scored the first goal for Barcelona, who drew 2-2 with the English and then won on penalties. He also played a key role in the second, setting up Pablo Torre. “Very happy with the confidence that Hansi (Flick) is giving me,” said Victor about the new German coach of FC Barcelona, who has asked him to be "aggressive" and to "step into the box".

“From the first moment Barca told me they wanted to buy me, my only thought was to come here. It's the best place where I can be and grow. There is no better place,” he added. Barcelona signed 22-year-old Victor this summer, who, last year, played on loan in their reserve team for Girona.
