Otamendi, an impossible dream for River Plate

There has been much excitement amongst River Plate fans after rumours that pointed to the possible return of Otamendi began to spread.

However, beyond the initial 'boom' of the news, calm has settled at River and its fans, aware that his signing is almost impossible today.

Otamendi, 31, is still at the peak of his career, with several years in the elite leagues still ahead and many of Europe's top clubs willing to consider him.
