Osasuna's protest dismissed by Sports Tribunal in Inigo Martinez case

According to COPE, the tribunal has ruled against the Navarrese club in the so-called 'Inigo Martinez case', which centred on the defender's appearance for Barcelona shortly after pulling out of international duty through injury.
Osasuna had based their complaint on Article 5 of FIFA's regulations, which stipulates a mandatory rest period for players who have been declared unfit for international matches due to injury before they can return to club action.
This latest ruling follows an earlier decision from the Spanish FA's Disciplinary Committee, which had already sided with Barcelona. The only avenue left open to Osasuna now is to pursue the matter through civil courts.
Osasuna's persistence in the case is rooted in the high stakes: had the appeal succeeded, they would have been awarded the three points from the match — enough to qualify for the UEFA Conference League play-offs at the expense of Rayo Vallecano.
