Official: Rodrigo de Paul joins Messi at Inter Miami in €15m deal

It was only a matter of time. Rodrigo de Paul's time at Atletico Madrid has come to an end. The Argentinian midfielder leaves the 'Rojiblancos' after 4 seasons and signs for Inter Miami.
The Argentinian midfielder was entering the final year of his contract at 31 years old. The deal has been closed for around €15 million and he signs for the next 4 seasons for the team of his friend and compatriot Lionel Messi.
It has been one of the sagas of the summer at the Atletico offices. Cholo was not keen on letting him go, as he considered him an important player, but both the club and the player himself welcomed the move, especially after failing to agree terms for a possible renewal.
De Paul leaves Atletico without making a lasting impact. He never found the consistency that both his coach and the fans demanded. However, he has been an important piece in the 'Rojiblancos' midfield and with the confidence of Simeone himself.
He leaves after 187 matches, having scored 14 goals and provided 26 assists. Without a doubt, this last season has been the most prolific, with a record number of matches, starts and minutes since he arrived at the 'Colchoneros' club, in addition to 3 goals and 9 assists. Genius, grit and good ball control that will now be enjoyed in the MLS and in the year prior to the World Cup.
