Official: Real Madrid's request to postpone Osasuna match rejected

That's the end of the matter. The Real Madrid-Osasuna match on matchday one of La Liga will be played on Tuesday, 19 August, at 9pm at the Bernabeu. That is, on the date agreed by La Liga. Xabi Alonso's side's debut will not be postponed, according to the Single Judge of Competition.
The appeal from the 'Los Blancos' requesting a change due to the recent Club World Cup was rejected. However, the resolution prevails, stating that La Liga has fully respected the holiday period of the 'Merengues' players, who will return to work next Monday.
This means that Xabi Alonso will have 15 days to prepare for the new 2025-26 season, the Basque coach's first at the helm in Chamartin. The Bernabeu will witness his debut at the aforementioned time against Osasuna, who will be making their debut under Alessio Lisci.
Real Madrid began their holidays on 11 July. The 21 days of rest are fulfilled consecutively in accordance with article 10.1 of the Collective Agreement. This is why the Competition does not consider it feasible to postpone what will be the closing match of matchday one in the Primera Division.
