OFFICIAL: Matheus Fernandes joins Barca

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Brazilian player Matheus Fernandes from Palmeiras. He will join the Spanish side on 1st July.
The player will sign a five year contract at the Camp Nou and have a buyout clause of 300 million euros. Barca have confirmed that the 21 year-old midfielder cost them seven million euros plus three more in add-ons.
The midfielder came through the youth teams at Botafogo before making his first team debut in 2016. He made 76 appearances, scoring twice and providing four assists as well as winning the Carioca championship.
He moved to Palmeiras in 2019 scoring once in 11 games for them. Fernandes is also a Brazilian international and has made two appearances each for the U17s and U20s. He is a right footed midfielder who "stands out for his defensive qualities" in midfield.
The player had hinted on Instagram earlier that he was a Barca player and that he was going to Valladolid on loan. The first bit is true, but we still do not know whether he will be going to Valladolid on loan or whether he will be staying at Palmeiras for a bit longer.
