OFFICIAL: Ibra returns to Milan as advisor

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return to Milan is official. A month after the first reports emerged, RedBird, the investment fund that owns the club, announced the news in a press release.

The agreement is that he will join the board and work closely with Gerry Cardinale. He will advise him in order to get the 'rossoneri' to take a new step forward in the coming months and years. He will be an advisor and "Operating Partner". "My love for Milan was always strong. It was a dream to come back again. I will help Milan and Red Bird in different areas," he said.

Italian ownership has already had a falling out with team legend Paolo Maldini, who was sacked as sporting director. Some time after he was sacked, he spoke to the Italian press to criticise the Italian bosses, who he believes do not understand the importance of what they have on their hands and did not treat him as they should have.

Ibrahimovic spent the last four seasons of his career at Milan, but injuries prevented him from enjoying more continuity. Even so, at the age of 39, he scored 17 goals in the 2020-21 season, elite figures despite his age, which saw him take the field at the age of 41.
