OFFICIAL: Daley Blind extends his Girona contract until 2026

Daley Blind, who has become irreplaceable for Michel Sanchez, and Girona have reached an agreement to extend the Dutch defender's contract until 2026, the Catalan club said on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old, who joined the Spanish side as a free agent last summer, has experience of playing for Ajax, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. He has exceeded the board's expectations with a two-season contract.

He has been an undisputed starter in the club's squad, with 31 starts and 33 appearances in 35 La Liga games played, and is one of the standout players in a team that has been one of the biggest surprises in Europe.

He has shone for his positioning and tactical intelligence in defence and for his ability to build the game from the back in attack, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He is Girona's fifth player with the most minutes, behind only Paulo Gazzaniga, Aleix Garcia, Miguel Gutierrez and Savinho.
