Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Nuno Tavares from Benfica. He signed a long term deal, but the length of it was not revealed by the Gunners. The footballer joins for around seven million pounds after a very solid season in the Portuguese top flight.

Nuno Tavares is a new Arsenal footballer. The Gunners have sealed the deal for around seven million pounds and the player has penned a long term deal. Arsenal did not reveal the cost of the signing or the length of the contract, but media outlets like the 'Daily Mail' revealed the transfer fee.

Tavares has a very promising future. At just 21, he broke into the Benfica first team. He made 25 appearances and become one of the youngsters with most quality in the league. That is why he has made the step up to the Premier League.

His new coach Mikel Arteta told Arsenal's official media channels: "Nuno’s arrival will give the squad extra strength and options in defence, particularly with this energy on the left side of the pitch. We look forward to Nuno’s arrival soon, his integration into the Arsenal family and playing in front of our fantastic supporters," he said on his new signing.

He could make his Premier League debut when Arsenal take on Brentford on 13th August.
