OFFICIAL: Aaron Ramsdale joins Newcastle on loan from Southampton

The deal includes a substantial loan fee and sees the Magpies cover the full salary of the England international, who becomes their latest addition ahead of the new campaign.
The agreement also features a buy option clause, allowing Newcastle to make the move permanent next summer should Ramsdale meet expectations at St James' Park. The 27-year-old underwent his medical earlier this week and has now finalised all formalities to complete the switch.
Ramsdale joined Southampton last summer following a frustrating spell at Arsenal, where he lost his starting spot to David Raya. However, with first-team opportunities limited on the south coast, a move to Tyneside provides the goalkeeper with a fresh chance to re-establish himself at the top level.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is understood to have played a key role in securing the deal, viewing him as an experienced and reliable option to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
The club will be hoping his arrival adds both quality and competition ahead of a demanding season across multiple fronts.
