Nkunku likely to miss first game of the season

Christopher ​Nkunku is one of the rising stars of European football and scored 23 goals in 36 games for Leipzig last season. He is the first major signing since Mauricio Pochettino was confirmed as Chelsea's new manager at the end of May.

However, according to several reports in England, the 25-year-old is likely to miss the Blues' Premier League opener against Liverpool due to a knee injury.

The France international was injured in the pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund at Soldier Field in Chicago, USA. Mykhailo Mudryk took his place in the 22nd minute.

Nicolas Jackson, who has impressed both the club and the Argentinian coach with his superb performances, is the main contender to replace Nkunku in the coming matches as the Frenchman is expected to be out of action for several weeks.
