Nkunku back on the scoresheet 5 months later

RB Leipzig are still fighting for the Champions League qualification places. Marco Rose's side are fourth, but are far from assured of a place in Europe's top club competition.

That's why every game is like a final to achieve the goal, and against Hoffenheim it was no different. The home side took the lead in the 28th minute of the first half through Cristopher Nkunku.

The French striker received a defence-splitting pass in the box after a Hoffenheim mistake when they were playing the ball out from the back and he was clinical in front of the goalkeeper, although he had some help from the visiting centre-back, who deflected his effort slightly.

Nkunku celebrated euphorically and rightly so. The Frenchman has not had a good time dealing with injuries this year, something that has affected his goalscoring figures. The '18' had not scored since 9th November 2022, more than five months of goal drought.
