Newcastle join Bayern in race for Phillips

Kalvin Phillips has not played a prominent role at Manchester City since joining from Leeds United for 42 million pounds in the 2022/23 campaign. As a result, the 27-year-old is likely to leave the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window.

Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on his situation but they are not the only ones. According to 'The Northern Echo', Newcastle have joined the race for his services. The Magpies plan to move for him as soon as possible to keep him away from other potential suitors.

Phillips has hardly had any opportunities under Pep Guardiola, playing just 21 competitive matches without scoring or assisting last season. However, Eddie Howe's side think he could play a prominent role at St James' Park.

Newcastle are willing to negotiate with direct rivals Manchester City for his transfer and will try to sign him in the January transfer window at all costs.
