Newcastle interrupt Barcelona's efforts to sign Chukwuemeka

Carney Chukwuemeka is one of the most promising young English footballers and Barcelona have been well positioned in the race to bring his services to the Catalan capital.

However, according to 'The Sun', Newcastle are now prepared to make every effort to sign the player and The Magpies will be using their financial muscle to do so. Their aim is to outdo Barcelona and advance negotiations with the player before those at the Camp Nou can reach the same point.

The aforementioned source reports that Aston Villa have put a 20 million pound price tag on the centre midfielder originally from Northampton. 

Chukwuemeka has become a player to consider for Europe's biggest clubs due to his 14 first team appearances in the Premier League at just 18 years of age, the fact his contract expires in 2023, and his technical and physical quality.
